Frequently Asked Questions

Shipping

How much is shipping?
Media Supply, Inc. ships all products by Fedex Express Saver as a default. You may select a ground or overnight option as well. Shipping charges depend upon on where you are located, what service you select, and the weight of the product you order. A spindle of 100 CD-R's weighs 6 lbs, while 100 jewel cased CD-Rs weighs 23 lbs. Use our handy freight calculator to get an estimate of your shipping charge.

Please use our online shipping calculator to determine your shipping costs. The shipping calculator only works with weights up to 95 lbs., so heavy duplicators you may be interested in may require a freight quote before we ship.

How quickly will my order ship?
Media Supply, Inc. attempts to get blank media orders out the same day. Our cut off time is 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday, for same day shipment. We do our best to keep all of the duplication equipment we have in stock, tested and ready to go. Copiers that are not in stock may require time to get them in from the manufacturer, or time to test them. This can add 1-3 days to your shipment. Duplication orders are subject to processing time, although rush handling is available for a fee.

What is the standard ship method and turn time?
Media Supply ships its outbound packages for website orders via Federal Express Saver. This service is similar in price to UPS Ground, but gets the packages to you in better shape. Large and delicate duplication equipment is shipped via truck on a pallet (LTL service) whenever possible, so it's possible your hardware shipment could be delayed waiting for our LTL carrier to pickup, or to prepare you order for shipping. LTL shipments must be scheduled by noon each day to have a pickup come that same day. This service saves freight costs for the customer and delivers your products in much better condition. Media Supply can now via UPS, but you would need to call the order in to select this shipping option. Our Fedex rates are very aggressive, and the boxes are handled with more care.

How long does it take to receive my order?
Time of delivery depends upon the level of shipping service you select. With our default shipping, Fedex Express Saver, all orders are delivered in a maximum of 3 days to the continental United States. All shipments originate from our Exton, Pennsylvania warehouse. Based on this shipping point, here is an estimate of delivery times to specific areas:

Southern Connecticut to Northern Virginia – Two Days
Southern California – Three Days
New England – Two Days
Florida – Three Days
Chicago – Two Days
Texas – Three Days
San Francisco, Seattle – Three Days

What method of payment do you accept? Can I pay COD?
We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover & Paypal. Sorry, We do not accept COD orders. You can send a check or money order to prepay for you order. Please note the check must clear before we ship your order, so it could impact delivery time. Make the check payable to "Media Supply, Inc."

Do you accept POs?
To discuss using a Purchase Order to place an order please contact our inside sales staff. The directory can be reached by dialing 800-944-4237 and pressing option 1.

What do I do when I get broken jewel cases?
Jewel cases are fragile, and are never really packaged perfectly due to their low unit cost. If you receive damaged jewel cases in a reasonable quantity with your shipment please contact Media Supply, Inc. We will send you replacements.

Is my product insured when shipped? What if it gets lost?
All shipments leaving Media Supply, Inc. are fully insured. If you do not receive your order please contact Media Supply, Inc. customer service.

What taxes do I pay being in the same state/province/country or not?
Pennsylvania residents pay 6% PA state sales tax.

My discs are arriving at my clients with scratches or with a peeled surface. What is causing it?
We sometimes run into this problem when clients are using a tight-fitting disc sleeve with a clear window. When the disc is printed, the inkjet, thermal or screened to surface bonds to the clear sleeve window. This problem can be aggravated by extreme temperatures during shipping. When shipping a disc by Mail, UPS and Fedex, it’s a good idea to avoid using sleeves with vinyl windows. A jewel case or C-Shell style “Clam Shell” case is safer to use. Any disc packaging that holds the disc from the center hub is always better than a tight sleeve.

I’m wondering why you only offer Fedex as a shipping option, why not UPS or USPS? It seems to be overkill for shipping my 100 CDs. I really don’t need them overnight, as they are not a priority item for me.
Media Supply uses a service called Fedex Express Saver, which is very similar to UPS ground. It's a few percentage points more expensive than UPS, but it gets packages to the west coast from us in 3 days vs. the normal 5-7 days UPS takes. In most cases our clients, irregardless of the product amount they order, all consider their packages high priority and time sensitive. Even our clients that order blank CD jewel cases don’t really like delays in shipping service. Fedex simply handles boxes better than UPS. We've watched the drivers toss the boxes like footballs onto the truck, but UPS turns down every damaged box claim we put in. Our damaged shipments have drastically decreased using this Fedex Service. We have tried to initiate service with the USPS, similar to Amazon.com, but they are looking for monsterous volumes of packages before they will even return a call. Maybe as our company grows we can begin to talk to them. We currently ship out about 250 boxes per day, and it's growing thanks to good customers like yourself.

One other thing - we pride ourselves on our fair shipping charges and low product prices. Some of our competitors inflate their shipping charges and charge handling fees in order to make up for low margin, advertised prices.

Thanks for your time, and thanks for your business and feedback. We love all the feedback we get, good or bad, especially the bad, as it give us things to improve upon.
