Rimage Video Protect(TM)

2.0 - Next-Generation Anti-Rip Technology for Digital Content Producers Monday April 14, 8:01 am ET Updated Software Now Offers Broader, More Aggressive Protection with Tighter Workflow Integration

LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Rimage Corporation (NASDAQ: RIMG - News) today announced it will preview an updated version of its Rimage Video Protect™ copy management application at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) 2008 conference. The new software features stronger security, tighter workflow integration and more aggressive anti-rip features that fight all known piracy tools.

ONE STEP AHEAD “Our customers were ecstatic when we released Rimage Video Protect because they finally had a way to produce protected DVDs without adding extra steps to their workflow processes,” said Tom Sherman, director of product development for Rimage. “The new version strengthens and enhances the original copy protection features while incorporating new anti-rip tools, so our customers can stay one step ahead of piracy.”

When digital content must be guarded against inappropriate copying, Rimage customers can trust Rimage Video Protect to provide a solid barrier against unauthorized duplication. The application is tightly integrated into the Rimage software suite, ensuring seamless execution and streamlined workflow when using QuickDisc™ or Rimage Rapid API™ authoring operations. Pre-release content, screeners and on-demand production DVDs can now be protected on-the-fly using Rimage Video Protect 2.0 on a Rimage digital publishing system.

Rimage Video Protect 2.0 inhibits ripping and disc copying software, not playback devices, from performing as intended, ensuring excellent playback compatibility. The seamless integration of Rimage Video Protect 2.0 into the Rimage system allows content producers to protect revenue and distribution plans without changing workflow processes or compromising deadlines.

As a passive software solution, Rimage Video Protect 2.0 encapsulates data files on a DVD disc, causing access to the content by common ripping programs to be controlled. The original media content is not modified; rather, copy controls are written in areas of the disc that are not read during playback.

“When a customer pays $800 or more for a set of DVDs, they expect them to work in just about any computer or DVD player,” said Jeff Andrews, operations manager for Star Thrower Distributing, one of many Rimage clients using Rimage Video Protect. “Eighty percent of our sales are to customers who have purchased from us before. One bad experience with playback and chances are they won’t buy again, so Rimage Video Protect gives us peace of mind. We know our content authors want the protection, and we know the protection will be transparent to our customers.”

Rimage Video Protect 2.0 is a completely integrated, turnkey application that will be available with Rimage software packages integrated in Rimage Producer and Professional series digital publishing products.
